The Tile Project
You may recall we had to replace our hot water heater in Sagle. We took on what we call The Tile Project to enclose the heater. It took months, mainly because it is in Sagle and we are in Rice. Here are some shots of the project. First Lynda and Dancer (Sundance) contemplate the design.
Large tiles rejected and she go with all 'minis'
Lynda was the Tile/Paint/Caulk/Finish Person. I was the Frame/Molding Person.
We wanted to hide the water heater from the 'side view'

Excellent Job, WA Wrigley's! Good idea, too. We be proud of you both.

That looks great - and you (well, Lynda) make it look so simple.

Like so many do-it-yourself projects, the pictures after the fact do not reflect the 'do overs' 'oops' 'Ah SHOOT!' part of the activity. At least it is finished.
An enclosed water heater was $900, exposed was $300. If you don't figure in the labor, we came out way ahead by going with the cheaper one and enclosing it ourself.

Wow, that's a huge savings! What do they enclose it with, platinum?
It looks great.

It would have look very much like a typical white washing machine with no doors. That is what the old one looked like. We didn't know what it was when we first bought the house. Water Heaters are normally hidden better. They call it a lo-boy here in the US. Shorter and squattier (??) then what we normally see. Makes for extra counter space once enclosed.
