WWW vs the Mouse (mice)

One would think with a 35 foot trailer and NINE cats, that mice would not be a problem! Alas, they are and the battle lines have been drawn!

Current score is Mice five (got bait off trap without tripping it), Wrigleys one (pictures follow). With one walk (one mouse got out the front door before we could get it). Two errors charged to Wrigleys (trap snapped and caught human fingers instead of mouse).

This shot called "Lost by a Nose"

To the left Tippy looks at her mechanized replacement (with the 'catch of the day').

On the right, Emi (our diabetic cat) remembers the days when she was young, nimble and could catch these critters.

  • Why not just name them and call them pets?

  • Mice 7
    Wrigleys 2.5! I will explain tomorrow. :)

  • You may explain, but NO PICTURES if it has to do at all with 1/2 of a mouse. =(

  • The good news is I can't find a way to add a new picture to a comment added to a blog.

The other good news is we didn't take a picture and it was not that gory. Mouse was caught but not killed. Lynda let it loose outside where the critters jumped it (now they go to work!). Whether it survived or not is up to speculation.

Anyhow, Lynda said I could only have 1/2 a point since it 'could' have gotten away and 'could' find its way back in the trailer.

We set the trap again as we went to bed but it is too nosey to check while Lynda sleeps. So the score stands at:

    Mice 7
    Wrigleys 2.5

  • Found a dead mouse outside earlier (pre trap) Saturday. I argue it could be the mouse who walked (ran) out of the trailer (see original blog) and we should get another 1/2 point.

Lynda says the cats frequently bring their catches close to the trailer for 'extra credit' (The fun is in the catching, not necessarily the eating). There fore it could be a 'run of the mill field mouse' and not a 'trailer mouse'.

We stand at 7 to 2.5

  • Whew...am I glad we are not to ask questions, cuz I would wonder what the difference is between a 'run of the mill field mouse' and a 'trailer mouse' -- other than the obvious 'one lives indoors'....

  • About the same as the difference between Wrigleys living in San Fernando Valley and those living in Kettle. Same breed, but some don't have to haul toilet water out, fresh water in, some watch for bears as they leave their front door, others don't. :o)

    Update to the 'score'

No change to trap after 12 plus hours. Bait still there, spring not sprung. Game may be over. Mice had better score but their 'bench' not deep enough. At present Wrigley may be Division leaders...or, 'heavy hitters' (BIG mice) waiting in locker room for next inning. :o)

  • Well, as Yogi Berra used to say “It ain’t over until it’s over”.

Last night, a mouse (we hope) tripped the trap. It got away but did not get the bait. We are resetting and the game goes on.

    No score change.

    Stay tuned

  • Just when you think it is over...it's not!

After no action for almost a week...we bagged another mouse.

Trap with bait had set un-'touched' since July 14.

It could have been a poor little 'homeless' mouse that just drifted in for a snack and shelter...and WAP!!!

    Mice still a 7
    Wrigley's move to 3.5

Little Mickey didn't even get its last meal. The old dry cheese was left and is now reset for the next round.

  • Even when you're 'home alone' you're not.

  • OOOPS!

Last night the mouse got away with the cheese.

    Mice 8
    Wrigleys 3.5
