Yes, weed barrier was put down. The key word would be 'garden'. You have to have some plants to call it a rock GARDEN. Gravel turn-a-round doesn't quality.
WE HAVE plants! Some would call them weeds, but you know what they say; "One man's weed is another's plant"...or something like that.
I am pretty sure our 'rock' is called 'The Ole Kettle Pit'. We have two more dump truck loads...er Designer Vehicle Deliveries due this summer.
We ALSO have a weed barrier down on the entry way (aka driveway)! For the Mesa (aka parking/turnaround) our landscaper (aka bulldozer guy) suggested a more ecologically friendly approach (also called weedwacker or "hell, let 'em grow").
I often get a Zen feeling while meditating (aka weed wacking) around our Mesa. Zen-again, some time I don't.

Now we know what you have been doing with all your time.
Great idea. Is the yard treated or lined with something to keep the weeds from sprouting?
Guess that's what we have too. Not a gravel turn-a-round/parking area...a rock garden!

Your Indian Pond Rock Garded is absolutely beautiful! Almost ZEN like in it's soothing qualities and balance of the elements. "OHMMMM" "OHMMMM".
