The Original Wrigley's Halloween

video

  • Taffy Pull (Would you eat that taffy after being 'pulled' by those children? Not me!)
  • Apple Bobbing (my personal technique stunk! Didn't want to get my face wet.)
  • And the ever-popular 'Run your nose through flour to get the coins that are buried in the flour' game. Now, why didn't that catch on?

Happy Halloween All.

  • Watching that video immediately made me think of a line from Kyle's current favorite book:

    "Back before fun was invented,..."

Wow, at least I've heard of the first two - who on earth came up with plowing your face through flour to get a quarter? Did you at least get to keep the quarter?

  • The flour-thing was Mom's idea -- and yes, you got to keep whatever you 'shoveled' out. All you needed was flour, a plate, towel and a couple of coins. And several willing kids.
That's a good line: Back before fun was invented.

  • I was about to say, the flour thing sure sounds like Grandma!

I love this video, it's great. Although I notice my dad wasn't helping pull the toffee! Layabout :)

  • I've not the time to view the video, but I remember the filming. Seems like one of us (the kids) pushed entire face through the flour. He/She looked a mess, but cleaned out all coins. Game was best when played right after apple bobbing when faces were all wet.

  • My personal favorite Flour-Face-Pattern is.....ME.
There were a couple of neighbor kids there, too -- but I had to clip them out due to time constraints.

  • Hilarious! I especially love how fearless Dad is with getting that darn apple! :)
