One Gazebo, to go, please

Here's our neighbor's new gazebo, put up in one day. Note the 'ceiling' is all wood and the roof is all shingles. They started at 8am putting in the flooring and ended at 8pm.
Builders consisted of Father and his three young children (2 boys and a girl).
Good workers, all of them.

  • Looks GREAT! Was this a kit or did these guys build, cut and design all from scratch? The one we had in Sagle was metal and only cost $199 at Wal*Mart. BUT, the deck it went on cost $300 in material and a week or so of labor by mostly Jay, some me and final touches by Helen and Lynda. If we added in labor, it was a $1-1.5 thousand project. “Less than $200” Lynda told me.

What do the workers charge? Maybe you can send them up here.

  • Dan actually went to a local store (Wild West) here in CdA. They designed it to his specifications. Wild West then subs out the construction to this Amish Family (located at an Amish Community just outside of Missoula, MT). Amish family doesn't drive (buggies only), so they had a non-Amish driver of a truck and a trailer. Driver just hung out while Amish family did all the work. Don't know what it cost. Family returned to Montana the same day.

  • Getting a ride seems like a clever way to skirt the idea of not using modern technology. I had a friend at work who was a very strict Jew and they setup a computer program and timers to automatically turn on lights, fans, and other devices on the Sabbath since apparently they are forbidden from doing work that day. It all seemed like a lot of work to avoid flicking a switch...

  • I’m no expert, but God may be able to see through the subterfuge too. For both the Jew and the Amish.

  • I heard a generator running a nail gun, too.

  • isn't it written somewhere that the Lord shall smite he who uses a power nail gun? I know I have read that "ALL GAZEBOS SHALL BE HAND NAILED"

This sweet little family has suddenly joined satan and sold out to capitalism. I bet they use battery powered tooth brushes when they think no one is looking. :o(

  • Ask (a question) and you shall receive (an answer).
