BeFLOOR & After

Although I am running way behind, here are some shots (9) of the flooring in the new home. Pre/during/post installation.
BeFLOOR & After
We have actually moved about ½ of the furniture in to the home. Well, ½ the boxes. We are still in the trailer, or in between trailer and house more accurately. Furniture/box moving got delayed due to a conflict with our two helpers.

This Tue/Wed (July 14/15) will be dirt moving around the house, exterior drain systems and entry steps construction. Not sure when remaining furniture/boxes start moving again.

  • Looking Good! I stained the quarter-round trim for our job. Didn't install it, though. That was my contribution.

  • Ours is stained, but needs to be mitered and installed. I am glad we have a table saw (mitering) and a finishing nail gun, I can't hit a nail straight and this will be about 400 feet of 3 inch trim. That would be a LOT of bent nails! . . . and a lot of cussing. :o(

  • Our floor installer said if we bought it and stained it, he would install for no additional charge.

  • We'd sure gone for a deal like that! I was asking the installers about any tricks they knew of for installing trim on rounded corners. They were not much help. They did floor covers (vinyl, carpet, laminate) but not trim. :o(

  • Here's what I found online regarding trim on bull nose corners:

Just like a square corner. Fill the hole with caulk (probably multiple coats) and paint the caulk the same as the wall. Otherwise, you could spend mega amounts of time and make a small section of crown with the same radius as the bullnose corner. Probably only cost you $150 a corner. (LOL.) The other option would be to return the crown before each corner and not even go around it.

  • The floor guys suggested the first idea. ‘Cut it square and fill with putty’. The video looked good but probably more important for more elaborate molding than we have (or perhaps for fancier crown molding on a ceiling). By the time you get up here, I will have the saw available if you would like to experiment. Floor guys said that there is also ‘bull nose’ corners sold pre-cut.

  • I don't know anything -- but see a company called Trim Tex has 'wood bullnose corner blocks' -- http://www.trim-tex.com/installation/951install.htm Little stand alone pieces.

  • I want to see photographs of Jeff experimenting on your floor!

I'm sure it'll look great once it's done.
